DIVING SCANNER

Travel safety — how the world ranks for peace

Dive trips are travel, and part of planning one is knowing the situation on the ground. The Global Peace Index by the Institute for Economics & Peace ranks 163 independent states and territories by peacefulness every year, measuring societal safety and security, ongoing conflict, and militarisation. The full 2026 ranking is below, most peaceful first.

  • Diving Scanner is not a politically involved party. We publish this index because we care about people’s safety, not to make any statement about any country, government or conflict.
  • The rankings are produced entirely by the Institute for Economics & Peace and are reproduced here as published. We do not verify, adjust or endorse them, and we take no responsibility for the data provided. It may lag events on the ground.
  • Use this information as you see fit. Whether to travel or book a dive anywhere — including a country experiencing conflict or unrest — is your decision and your responsibility alone.
  • Before booking, check your own government’s official travel advice for the destination — it is more current and more specific than any annual index.
